Pacific Spirit - Business Car

Originally built by National Steel Car in 1959, and previously known as Bonaventure, this rare example of the M530-class business car design was part of the Canadian National Railway’s business train fleet until acquired by Railexco in 2023.

In 2025, Railexco sold Pacific Spirit to RJD America LLC. Pacific Spirit joins RJD America LLC’s efforts to restore and operate Chesapeake & Ohio No. 614, a mainline 4-8-4 steam locomotive.

Chesapeake & Ohio 1603 - Coach

The Chessie was a proposed streamlined passenger train developed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The brainchild of C&O executive Robert R. Young, the Chessie would have operated on a daylight schedule between Washington, D.C., and Cincinnati, OH. The train's equipment was constructed by the Budd Company in the early 1950s. However, the Chessie never entered regular service. Most of the equipment ordered for the service was reallocated to other C&O trains or sold outright to other railroads.

Most notably, 12 cars from the Chessie were exported to Argentina for operation on El Marplatense, a Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata express train. C&O 1603 would stay in the United States, but would be sold to the Atlantic Coast Line becoming ACL 273 and later SCL 5103. Railexco acquired C&O 1603 in 2025 and plans to begin restoration on the coach in 2026.

RXCX 25064 - Amfleet II Coach

Amtrak ordered 150 Amfleet II cars from the Budd Company on March 13, 1980, at a cost of $150 million. These cars were intended to replace rolling stock on Amtrak long-distance trains, and featured larger windows, more legroom, and folding legrests. Budd delivered the first four cars on October 28, 1981 and the final cars arrived on June 11, 1983. The Amfleet IIs were the last intercity passenger railcars cars the Budd Company built.

In 2020 Railexco brought the first Amfleet Is into the private sector, now Railexco is again leading the way as the first non-Amtrak owner of an Amfleet II.

RXCX 25064 will be restored for future excursion service and is expected to be ready for lease by the end of 2027.

SD18 616 Locomotive

RXCX 616 is a SD18 locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division in 1960 for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad. The locomotive was built to haul heavy iron ore trains in Northern Minnesota. The locomotive was later acquired by the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway for use on local trains and as a hump yard switcher.

In 2007 Canadian National Railway acquired the EJ&E and with it SD18 616. The locomotive would retired from Canadian National Railway in 2010. Railexco purchased 616 in 2023 and returned it to service in 2024.

RXCX 616 is currently under lease.

SD40A 6014 Locomotive

RXCX 6014 is an EMD SD40A. These were unique six-axle diesel-electric locomotives built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between 1969 and 1970 for the Illinois Central Railroad. Railexco purchased 6014 in 2023 and plans to return it to service when resources allow.

SD40As have a longer frame when compared to most other SD40 variants. This allows for a larger 5000 gallon fuel tank. The locomotive is powered by a sixteen-cylinder EMD 645E3 diesel engine, which provides 3,000 horsepower. 6014 is one of only 18 SD40As ever built.

Union Pacific RPO 5911

Built by the Budd Company for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Railway Postal Office. This RPO was acquired by Railexco in 2023 and will be converted into an open air passenger car for use on excursion passenger trains. The car will feature a full length bar, 3 open doorways on both sides, and ample event space.

SEPTA Bay Window Caboose 2002

SPAX 2002 is a modified by window caboose acquired from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority in 2023. The bay window is notched to fit alongside high level passenger platforms. SEPTA stored 2002 in a publicly accessible location at the end of track 6 in Philadelphia’s Suburban Station for several years.
